Portrait Photography - My Approach
As a portrait photographer, my job is to make an image that shows not
just what you look like, but exudes your character as well. This
is no easy task, and I take it quite seriously. Almost anyone can
make somebody look good in a photograph, but far fewer people
can really convey that person's inner spirit and personality. This
is my ultimate goal whenever I photograph someone-to tell as much
as possible about them in one single photograph.
To reach this goal of a natural, attractive, and revealing (in a good way) portrait, I schedule at least two hours for every photo shoot-even the one hour session includes an extra hour. This gives us time to relax, get to know each other, and try out several different outfits and locations. During the photo shoot, I typically will only recommend a few possible poses. I don't do any structured, set up poses-I prefer to let you move around and find a pose that feels right for you, rather than the same tired pose that every other person in every senior class for the last 50 years has done.
I travel to the location of your choosing, whether that is an old barn, woodland stream, beach, whatever you have in mind. If you know the kind of location you want, but don't know where to find it (for example, you want a photograph in an abandoned house, but don't know of any), I can try to find a location.
My Promise: No Cliche, Boring Portraits!
